More than one way to tell a story
Sometimes finding the right words isn't enough. Other times words work, but visuals give discriminating readers a reason to linger and explore. I like to embed visuals into stories, giving smart readers an immediate source of more information -- interactive maps, searchable databases, graphics and embedded digital audio. Here are some visuals I created for SouthCoastToday.com.

Listen while you read ...

Optimum timing for offshore wind
Databases tell their own tales
When the contract for America's first major offshore wind energy installation was awarded, we thought it would be great to use a timeline to note each major step along the way. Telling the timeline with photos made it more visually appealing.
